Beirut Blast

On August 4th 2020, a fire in the Port of Beirut, Lebanon ignited 2,750 tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate which had been stored in a warehouse for seven years. It caused what was to be one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history. Making 300,000 people homeless in the blink of an eye and killing more than 200 people.

The damage is estimated to be in the region of $15,000,000,000 and will take months to get people back into their homes. As the people of Beirut wanted accountability for the avoidable tragedy, anger grew toward the government.

These pictures document the aftermath of the blast, and the rage that was felt by all those effected by it.
