“…Wolfgang and I had darted across the road for a better angle when a young man decided to climb up on top of a metal shipping container. There he built himself a barrier, made only of a sheet of corrugated metal, and started to sling rocks from his ‘vantage point’. He wasn’t up there for longer than a few minutes before the loud crack of a sniper rifle rang out, the bullet passing through his leg, high up the thigh, severing his femoral artery. He hit the deck screaming for help, his face contorted in pain. The problem was he was up on top of a 9-foot-high shipping container. His friend was quick to get up there. As he picked him up blood was pouring out of his dark jeans. Hands reached up to try and get him down safely… but quickly! He needed pressure on that wound otherwise he’d be dead in the next 90 seconds.”
